The Retail Financial Distribution Research Initiative (ReFinD), a project by the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) at the University of Ghana, has teamed up with MTN Ghana’s MobileMoney Limited to help more people, especially those in underserved and vulnerable communities, access financial services.
This partnership aims to make Mobile Money agent networks more efficient and easier to use, as these networks play a key role in providing financial services.
Under this agreement, MobileMoney Limited will help ReFinD researchers by giving them access to Mobile Money agents and sharing useful information to support their studies. The partnership will focus on bringing new agents into the Mobile Money system, which is expected to improve how the market works. It will also tackle both financial and non-financial challenges that agents face when trying to grow their businesses, helping more people gain access to financial services.
Speaking at the launch of the partnership the CEO of Mobile Money limited, Shaibu Haruna, said
“We look forward to working with ReFinD as a partner that is also committed to promoting financial inclusion and unlocking a world of financial possibilities for every Ghanaian”
Besides the ReFinD project, MobileMoney LTD and ISSER will work together on upcoming research projects. These projects will focus on their common goal of making financial services more available and helping disadvantaged communities. This teamwork is an important move to lower financial obstacles and support long-term growth in Ghana.
